It’s still very much summer, but I have to admit, I’m already looking forward to fall fashion.
Throwing on a pair of good-fitting jeans, a long-sleeve ribbed shirt, a jacket and sneakers is pretty much my go-to outfit of the day once the weather cools down. But this year, I want to switch things up a little.
I’m definitely not planning to replace my entire wardrobe. I already have several outerwear pieces—casual jackets, shackets, bomber-style jackets and, of course, my go-to faux leather jacket. What I’d really like to do is add a few edgier or more stylish pieces that make what I already own feel different. A cropped jacket or maybe suede is high on my list this year…if I can find the right one.
And therein lies my problem.
Every year I get caught up on social media looking at all the cute new styles for fall. I try to be reasonable with my spending, but I think half the fun for me is the hunt. I genuinely love seeing what’s new, what’s going viral and how people are wearing it.
If I become obsessed with something, I’ll search for it everywhere. Every brand. Every colour. Every price point.
I’ll see a pair of jeans, sneakers, a sweater—you name it—and spend way too much time looking for the one. Then I’ll get distracted by something else and move on.
Until the algorithm puts those viral pants right back in my feed.
And off I go again…another hour of research. LOL.

Then There Are the Basement Bins…
Soon I’ll also perform my annual fall ritual of hauling several bins of clothing up from the basement.
There are treasures down there. Rugs, home accessories and—you guessed it—clothes. I probably have two or three bins filled with clothing from years past.
I know I need to purge and donate more, and I have. But somehow every year I sift through everything, wondering whether a sweater or pair of pants deserves another chance. Occasionally I find something that works perfectly with a current outfit and feel completely justified for keeping it.
Most of the time?
I debate. I try things on. I make piles.
And eventually half of it goes straight back into the bins and down to the basement until next season.
Is this procrastination or borderline hoarding? I’m not entirely sure. But after living in this house for 14 years, apparently this is my ritual. Jason is very familiar with this yearly ritual too. After all, he’s usually the one packing the bins back up and hauling them downstairs for me. I’m sure he wonders why we bother when he knows they’ll all be coming back upstairs again next year. LOL.
Meanwhile, I’ll inevitably buy another long-sleeve shirt, pair of shoes or something else I convince myself my wardrobe needs—even though my closets and dresser are already pretty full.
Please tell me I’m not the only person who does this.
Maybe I need to hire someone to finally help me go through everything.
Can ChatGPT help with that? Wink, wink…
What I’m Actually Shopping for This Fall
All joking aside, my goal for fall isn’t more clothes just for the sake of having more clothes. I want to find a handful of pieces that make the things I already own feel more current.
I’m looking for pieces with a little personality—something stylish, slightly edgy or just different enough that my usual jeans-and-jacket outfit doesn’t look exactly the same as it did last fall.
And because I love finding something affordable that looks much more expensive than it actually is, I’ve been searching Amazon for pieces that caught my eye.
These are the Amazon fall fashion finds I think could add something new to a wardrobe without requiring an entire closet overhaul.

1. Dresses? Probably Not Me This Fall
I love a beautiful dress—on someone else.
For some reason, I overlook them almost every time I shop for myself. I used to wear a skirt occasionally when I was working, and I’ve probably bought three or four over the past five years. Want to know where they are now?
Hanging in my closet. Tags still on.
I would definitely consider a dress for a wedding or special occasion, but for everyday wear, I just don’t seem to reach for them. Even in summer, when throwing on a cute dress with the right shoes and a few accessories seems like the easiest outfit imaginable, I probably have only one or two in my closet.
We’re planning a trip to Cabo, and I’ve already caught myself thinking, Maybe I should buy a dress for dinner.
But I know myself.
Chances are I’ll end up wearing a pair of those viral linen pants with a tank and some great accessories instead.
Fall and winter dresses are even less likely to make it into my wardrobe. I honestly can’t remember the last time I wore one.
But a Satin Skirt? I Might Be Convinced.
Here’s where things get interesting this fall.
I’m loving the look of a satin midi skirt paired with an oversized sweater and boots. Western boots give it a little edge, while a chunky boot would make it feel more casual and less dressed up—which is probably why this combination appeals to me.
I actually bought a pair of western boots in Nashville last year.
Another impulse purchase? Possibly.
But if I can pull them out this fall and style them with a satin skirt and an oversized sweater, I’m going to call that purchase justified.
That’s the kind of fall fashion I’m looking for this year: not necessarily what I’ve always worn, but pieces that can work with things I already own and push me slightly outside my usual jeans-and-jacket routine.
So rather than adding a couple of dresses to this list just because they’re pretty, I’m looking for an affordable satin skirt that gives me a completely different outfit without feeling like I’m trying to dress like someone I’m not.
Woman wearing a neutral two-piece lounge set with wide-leg sweatpants, white tank and off-the-shoulder sweater while holding a coffee mug in a cozy modern living room.

2. Comfortable, Casual & Still Pulled Together
Now this is an outfit category I can get behind. Every day, if possible.
Who doesn’t love a good two-piece lounge set or a pair of baggy sweatpants with a tank and an off-the-shoulder sweater? In my opinion, it’s pretty much the perfect retired-person outfit. You’re relaxed, you’re comfortable, but with the right pieces you still look stylish and pulled together.
Lately, I’ve been loving the baggier Free People-style casual pants—barrel, jogger, cropped and, my favourite, wide leg.
For fall, though, I keep coming back to the barrel style.
Every time I see a great pair, I stop. And before long, I’m right back down the rabbit hole looking for the perfect ones.
I especially like the styles that have more of a lived-in, relaxed sweatpant feel rather than looking too polished. Give me an interesting seam, a slightly oversized shape or a fun stripe down the side and you’ve got my attention.
Unfortunately, there are way too many good choices.
This is not helpful for someone who has a hard time making up her mind.
I hate buying something only to find a pair I like even better two days later. Is that buyer’s remorse—or do I just enjoy shopping and secretly want them all?
I’m going with buyer’s remorse.
The Pieces I’d Look For
A relaxed two-piece set – This is one of those outfits that does most of the work for you. Add sneakers, a crossbody bag and some simple jewelry and you’re done. I’d look for a set with a relaxed fit rather than anything too fitted or overly coordinated.
Baggy barrel or wide-leg pants – Probably the piece I’m most interested in adding this fall. I’d wear them with a fitted tank or tee and then throw on an oversized cardigan, off-the-shoulder sweater, bomber jacket or even my faux leather jacket.
An oversized sweater or pullover – I want something that looks just as good with relaxed pants as it does with jeans. Cream, grey, chocolate brown or a great stripe would give me plenty of options without adding another piece to my closet that only works with one outfit.
How I’d Make It Look Intentional
For me, the trick with an oversized bottom is balancing it with the rest of the outfit. If the pants are really baggy, I’d probably start with a more fitted tank or tee and then add the oversized layer.
Sneakers would be my first choice, a great bag would pull everything together, and I’d add some simple gold jewelry.
Comfortable? Absolutely.
But hopefully more I meant to dress like this and less I forgot to get dressed before leaving the house.
And if I finally find that perfect pair of barrel sweatpants this fall, I’ll try not to keep looking for a better pair immediately afterward.
No promises.

3. Handbags — My Fall Weakness
This one probably goes without saying. A good handbag has always been a statement piece for me.
Over the years I’ve collected all kinds—from beautiful Italian leather to faux leather, rattan, sequins and everything in between. They all seem to speak to me.
And if one really catches my eye and that impulsivity takes over?
It’s probably coming home with me.
If Jason happens to be shopping with me, he usually sees what’s happening and just goes with it. I can’t be stopped. LOL.
This could become a serious problem on our Mediterranean vacation next year. Put me anywhere near a beautiful Italian leather bag and I already know I’m going to be in trouble.
The Fall Bag Trends Have Me This Year
I’m loving so many of the handbag trends this season, but brown suede is probably at the top of my list.
I actually bought a beautiful beige suede bag about a year and a half ago with a shoulder strap, and she’s a beauty.
Why do we call our handbags she, by the way?
Anyway…
Apparently owning one beautiful suede bag doesn’t prevent me from wanting another because now I’m eyeing espresso brown. A bucket bag, a great crossbody, maybe something slouchy and oversized—I haven’t decided yet.
Which means I’ll probably spend far too much time researching all three.
Here are a few styles I’m watching for this fall:
- Espresso brown suede bucket bag – This might be the one that gets me. I love the combination of the rich brown colour and soft suede texture. I’d wear it with jeans, an oversized sweater and sneakers or with a blazer and boots when I want to look a little more polished.
- Small leather crossbody bag – Probably one of the most practical bags I own. A simple structured crossbody in chocolate brown, cognac or black can make even jeans and a basic tee look more put together.
- Slouchy suede or leather hobo bag – I love the relaxed shape of these, especially with the looser silhouettes I’m drawn to right now. This would look so good with barrel pants, wide-leg jeans or an oversized sweater.
- Structured top-handle bag – This is the opposite of my slouchier bags, but I love how a structured handbag can instantly elevate a casual outfit. It’s also one of those styles that doesn’t really go out of fashion.
- Quilted bag – The texture alone can make an affordable bag look more expensive. I’d probably keep the colour neutral and let the quilting be the detail rather than choosing anything too embellished.
Clearly, I’m not over the chocolate brown handbag trend yet. If you’re looking for one too, I rounded up 10 chocolate brown purses that have that expensive designer look without the designer price tag.
One Thing I’ve Learned About Buying Handbags
I’m willing to have more fun with handbags than I am with some other parts of my wardrobe.
I’ll wear the same jeans over and over, but changing the bag can completely change the outfit. It’s also why I don’t think an expensive-looking bag necessarily has to be expensive.
Good hardware, a beautiful shape, rich colour and interesting texture can go a long way.
Suede is especially good at that, which may explain my current obsession.
Do I actually need another handbag this fall?
Absolutely not.
Am I probably going to buy one?
Absolutely.
The only question is…which one?
I spend way too much time looking through Amazon for clothes, shoes, bags and accessories—so I’ve put some of my favourite finds together in my Amazon storefront. I’ll keep adding to it as I find pieces I genuinely like for fall (and probably removing a few when something better catches my eye!).

4. Shoes — Definitely My Kryptonite
If I thought I had a problem with handbags, shoes are definitely my kryptonite.
My infatuation with footwear might actually be worse.
For everyday fall outfits, I love a good sneaker. Adidas Sambas have become one of my favourites, and this year I keep looking at the brown and green suede versions. Do I need another pair? Probably not. But apparently that’s not the question I ask myself when it comes to shoes.
A couple of years ago, I bought a white pair of sneakers from another site that looked very similar to Sambas. I knew they weren’t the real thing, but I figured they’d give me the same look.
Sadly, they fell apart.
Earlier this year, I finally bought the real Adidas version.
Lesson learned. Sometimes you really do get what you pay for.
I also love Converse. I have a pair I’ve worn so much that they’ve started turning a little yellowish. I’m not ready to give up on them yet, so I’m hoping I can figure out how to bring them back to life.
Then there are my Nike sneakers. All white and somehow still looking almost brand new—which, considering my track record with shoes, feels like a small miracle.
And Then There Are the Boots…
I have a lot of boots.
Like…a lot.
I loved Chelsea boots for years and still do. I also have several ankle boots, although I’m very particular about the heel and the shape of the toe.
Maybe it’s just me, but the wrong toe shape can make an otherwise beautiful ankle boot look cheap. I tend to gravitate toward a more refined shape and a lower heel.
Gone are the days when I’m voluntarily spending an evening in four-inch heels.
How did we ever think those were comfortable?
Of course, I’ve kept a couple pairs of tall boots tucked away in those basement bins.
Just in case.
Obviously.
This fall I’m especially interested in western boots. I bought a pair in Nashville last year—possibly another impulse purchase—so I’m determined to actually wear them. I’m picturing them with that satin midi skirt and oversized sweater I mentioned earlier, but they’ll work just as easily with jeans.
If I can style them several different ways this fall, I’m officially removing them from the impulse-purchase category.
Kitten Heels, Ballet Flats & Loafers
Kitten heels are another style I’m loving because they’re pretty much the perfect heel height for me now.
I’ve actually been looking at buying a pair for our Cabo trip this fall. I love the idea of a kitten heel with a longer cargo short or skort and a simple top for a more elevated evening look.
Is that look for everyone?
Definitely not.
Is it even for me?
I’m not entirely sure yet. I’ll probably spend three hours researching it when I start packing.
Ballet flats have been everywhere too, especially the jelly versions. I didn’t jump on that trend this summer, although I have to admit they’re cute with cropped flares or barrel pants.
Never say never. I may still come around.
And finally, loafers.
I really do love a good loafer. In fact, I bought a beautiful beige suede pair and haven’t worn them yet.
In my defence, we seemed to go straight from a rainy spring into hot summer weather. There wasn’t much of a loafer window.
Or perhaps they were simply buried in my closet underneath a mountain of flip-flops, slides and sneakers.
Either explanation is entirely possible.
Between spending time at the ranch playing horseshoes and bocce and golfing at home, loafers weren’t exactly the practical choice anyway.
The Shoes I’d Actually Look For This Fall
- Suede Adidas Sambas – Brown or green is calling my name this fall. They’d work with jeans, barrel pants, wide-leg trousers and pretty much every casual outfit I already wear.
- Western boots – I’m shopping my own closet for this one. My Nashville boots deserve their moment, especially with satin skirts, oversized sweaters and jeans.
- Low-heeled ankle boots – One of my fall staples, but I’m picky. For me, the toe shape and heel make all the difference. I want something sleek enough to look polished but comfortable enough that I’ll actually wear it.
- Kitten heels – A small heel can completely change an outfit without making me regret my footwear choice two hours later. I’m especially interested in pairing them with less obvious pieces like longer shorts, cargo styles or a skort.
- Suede loafers – Another style I’m determined to wear more. They’re such an easy way to make jeans and a sweater look more polished without actually dressing up.
- Ballet flats – I’m watching this one rather than declaring myself fully converted. A simple pair with cropped jeans or barrel pants? Yes. Jelly ballet flats? Ask me again in a few months.
What I’ve Learned About Buying Shoes
I’m willing to spend a little more on shoes I know I’ll wear repeatedly.
My Samba experiment reminded me of that.
That doesn’t mean the most expensive shoe is automatically the best one, but comfort, construction and materials matter—especially with shoes. I’d rather find one pair I love and wear them constantly than buy three cheaper versions that sit in my closet.
Although judging by the number of shoes I currently own, I’m not sure I should be giving anyone advice about restraint.
Maybe we’ll call this a lesson I’m still learning.

5. Jewelry — The Finishing Touch I Rarely Skip
For years, I wore the same pair of diamond stud earrings almost every day.
They were a gift, and I absolutely loved them. I still have them tucked away and lately I’ve been thinking about bringing them back into rotation. Diamond studs are one of those things that never really go out of style. They’re simple, timeless and work with pretty much anything.
But somewhere along the way, I became a gold hoop person.
And the chunkier the hoop, the more fun it seems to be.
Unfortunately, I’ve discovered a problem with many of the more affordable earrings I’ve tried: my ears don’t like them nearly as much as I do.
I’ve bought some really cute inexpensive hoops only to end up taking them off because my ears are irritated. So for everyday wear, I’ve reverted to a much smaller gold-and-silver hoop that’s comfortable but barely noticeable.
If I’m going out with the girls, though, I’ll usually put on a larger pair.
And the minute I get home?
Off they come.
Maybe it’s time to invest in a really good pair of larger hoops that I can actually wear comfortably. My hesitation is that there are always so many cute new styles coming out that I have a hard time committing to one expensive pair.
What can I say? Apparently I like variety these days.
Gold, Silver…Why Not Both?
I wore silver jewelry for years, and I still have a ton of it—silver necklaces, gold and diamond pendants, costume jewelry and pieces I’ve collected over the years.
And this might date me, but I remember when so many of my friends were wearing those huge hoop earrings.
They weren’t for me.
But who am I—the earring police?
One jewelry trend I’ve really enjoyed is mixing metals. I love that we no longer seem to have this rule that if you’re wearing gold earrings, everything else has to be gold too.
I’ll happily mix gold and silver now, especially with rings.
I Feel Naked Without My Rings
Rings are probably the one accessory I rarely leave the house without.
I tend to wear the same ones, on the same fingers, over and over. In fact, if I leave the house and realize I’ve forgotten to put them on, there’s a good chance I’ll turn around.
My hands just feel bare without a couple of rings.
I even wear them golfing because more often than not, we’re going somewhere for a bite afterward and I still want to feel somewhat put together.
I have gold rings, silver rings and mixed-metal styles, but one of my favourites is actually a ring I bought on a beach in Mexico about four years ago.
Another vacation impulse purchase.
I’m starting to notice a pattern here.
There’s no particularly sentimental story behind it. I just loved the style when I saw it, bought it, and somehow it has never tarnished. Four years later, I still think it looks good.
Sometimes an impulse buy actually works out.
The Jewelry I’d Look For Now
- A great pair of gold hoops – I’d love to find a slightly chunky pair that makes a statement but is comfortable enough to wear for more than a few hours. Because my ears react to some inexpensive earrings, the material matters to me as much as the style.
- Mixed-metal earrings or hoops – Since I already wear both gold and silver, this feels much more practical than trying to choose one or the other.
- Simple layering necklaces – I already own plenty of necklaces, so I’m not looking to build another collection. But I do like a simple chain or pendant layered over a tee, ribbed top or sweater.
- Statement rings – This is probably where I’m most likely to have some fun. I love mixing different rings rather than wearing one large statement piece, and apparently I’m not opposed to buying them from random vendors on beaches in Mexico either.
- Classic diamond studs – I’m shopping my own jewelry box for this one. Mine deserve to come back out. They’re proof that sometimes the pieces you’ve had for years are still the best ones.
My Rule for Jewelry Now
Actually, I’m not sure I have one.
I don’t think everyone needs to wear one statement piece or that gold and silver can’t be mixed. Jewelry is too personal for that.
Some days I want barely-there earrings and a couple of rings. Other days I want a chunky hoop that actually gets noticed.
For me, jewelry is simply another way to make a basic outfit feel finished—and sometimes the best accessory isn’t something new at all.
It might be the pair of diamond studs that’s been sitting in your jewelry box waiting for you to remember how much you loved them.

6. How I Make Casual Outfits Feel Pulled Together
I love neutrals because they make getting dressed so much easier. Black, cream, beige, grey and brown all work with so much of what I already own.
When I wear a monochromatic outfit, it’s usually black. But lately I’ve been leaning more and more toward brown—especially those rich chocolate and espresso shades.
I recently saw a two-piece lounge-style outfit that I haven’t been able to get out of my head. The pants were wide leg with a stripe down the side, and she had a plaid long-sleeve shirt tied around her waist.
I fell in love with the whole look.
This will probably become another impulse purchase the minute I find the right version.
You’ve been warned.
Chocolate brown has really won me over lately. If you’re thinking about adding more of it to your wardrobe too, I put together a whole guide to chocolate brown fashion finds and easy ways to wear this rich neutral.
Jeans Will Always Be My Fall Staple
Trends come and go, but give me a great pair of jeans and I can pretty much build an outfit for anything.
Casual day? Jeans.
Date night? Jeans.
Girls’ weekend? Jeans.
Dinner out? Probably jeans.
I own a lot of pairs, but they really do have different purposes. What I’m doing that day or night usually determines which ones I reach for.
If I know I’m going to be sitting for hours, I don’t want anything digging into my waist. If I’m going to a house party where I’ll probably have to take my shoes off, I’m not wearing cropped jeans that only look right with a specific shoe.
I know. These are the things I think about.
But the right footwear really can make or break an outfit for me. The same goes for the bag and accessories.
Jeans could probably be an entire conversation on their own. I’ve tried everything from barrel and bootcut to baggy, cropped and wide-leg styles, and I definitely have opinions about which ones I reach for most. If you’re trying to decide which denim shape to add this fall, I shared more of my favourites in my 10 Best Fall Denim Styles and Exactly How to Wear Them guide.
Even My Casual Outfits Need a Little Something
I’m certainly not dressed up every day.
At the ranch, we’re usually very casual. But casual can still look pulled together without looking like you tried too hard.
When I golf, I love a cute golf skirt with a sleeveless top and golf cap. When I go walking with my girlfriend, it’s usually leggings or cargo pants, sneakers and a baseball cap.
I still try to add something that makes the outfit feel a little more stylish.
You never know who you’re going to bump into, who might stop you to ask a question—or what new four-legged friend you’re going to meet along the way.
I’ve Apparently Become a Hat Person
That brings me to hats.
I never used to wear them very often, but over the past five years I’ve somehow accumulated quite a collection.
Baseball caps, golf hats, sun hats, a bucket hat and western hats.
And yes, when I bought those western boots in Nashville last year, I also impulse-bought a western hat.
Of course I did.
Besides completing an outfit, hats have another very important purpose: saving a bad hair day.
Especially at the ranch.
And Now I’m Looking at Scarves…
A scarf is another accessory I’m considering, especially for our upcoming trip.
I’d love to figure out how to wear one in my fine hair without it disappearing or sliding out five minutes later. I think a scarf in your hair with a simple beach outfit is so cute.
And if that doesn’t work?
I’ll tie it around the handle of a handbag.
Either way, I’m loving a scarf moment right now.
What Makes an Outfit Look Expensive to Me
I don’t think there’s one formula.
For me, it’s more about whether everything works together.
A $30 pair of pants can look fantastic with the right shoes, bag and accessories, while an expensive piece can look completely wrong if the proportions or styling are off.
I pay attention to fit, texture and the overall shape of an outfit. I love mixing something relaxed with something more structured—baggy pants with a fitted tank, jeans with a beautiful jacket, or an oversized sweater with a satin skirt.
And neutrals make all of that much easier.
I’m not afraid of trends, either. I just don’t think I need to wear every single one.
Although judging by my shopping habits, apparently I’m willing to investigate most of them.

7. Fall Outfit Formulas I’d Actually Wear
Rather than putting together outfits around pieces just because they’re trending, I’ve been thinking about combinations I’d actually wear this fall.
Most start with something I already own and add one piece that makes the outfit feel a little different.
Everyday Casual
Barrel pants + fitted tank or tee + oversized sweater + sneakers + crossbody bag
This might be my ideal everyday fall outfit. Comfortable enough to wear all day but still pulled together. I’d probably choose espresso brown, black, grey or cream and add a little gold jewelry.
My Reliable Jeans Outfit
Great-fitting jeans + ribbed long-sleeve top + jacket + Sambas + statement bag
This is basically my fall uniform already. The difference this year might be adding a cropped suede jacket, brown suede sneakers or a great espresso bag.
Nothing revolutionary—just enough to make an outfit I’ve worn countless times feel current again.
Slightly Outside My Comfort Zone
Satin midi skirt + oversized sweater + western boots + slouchy bag
This is the one I really want to try.
I already have the Nashville boots, so I only need to find the right skirt and sweater. I like that it’s feminine without requiring me to wear a dress, and the western boots keep it from feeling too dressy.
The Outfit Currently Living in My Head
Wide-leg striped lounge pants + simple tank + plaid shirt tied at the waist + sneakers
I saw a version of this recently and haven’t forgotten about it.
That’s usually dangerous.
It’s casual, a little sporty and very comfortable—which means there’s an excellent chance I’ll eventually convince myself I need it.
Dinner or Girls’ Night
Dark jeans or trousers + simple top + faux leather jacket + kitten heels or ankle boots + great bag + larger gold hoops
This is where accessories do most of the work for me.
I can start with really basic pieces and change the entire outfit with shoes, a handbag, jewelry and a jacket.
Ranch Weekend
Cargo pants + tank + sneakers or slip-ons + baseball cap
This is much closer to what you’ll actually find me wearing at the ranch, especially during the day. Cargo pants and a tank are probably my most typical combination, usually with sneakers or an easy pair of slip-ons.
And despite owning western boots—and even buying another pair in Nashville last year—you’d think the ranch would be exactly where I’d wear them.
Nope.
I’m far more likely to be wearing sneakers, slip-ons or a warmer pair of boots if it’s cold.
After a long day of playing horseshoes or bocce, comfort becomes even more important. That’s when I’ll change into a pair of relaxed sweatpants or jeans, throw on a plaid shirt and call it a day.
And in the fall, there’s almost always a baseball cap involved.
The weather at the ranch can change quickly, so layers are essential. A tank or tee, plaid shirt and casual jacket give me options without having to think too hard about it.
It’s definitely casual—but I still like the outfit to look somewhat intentional.
Apparently even when I’m playing horseshoes, I have standards.

What Am I Actually Buying This Fall?
After putting all of this together, I’ve realized something.
I really don’t need an entirely new fall wardrobe.
Actually, if you saw my closets—and those bins in the basement—you’d probably agree that I don’t need much of anything.
But that’s not going to stop me from looking.
Fashion is fun for me. I love seeing what’s new, finding different ways to wear things I already own and occasionally falling down that shopping rabbit hole when something really catches my eye.
This fall, I’m trying to be a little more intentional about it.
Instead of buying a bunch of random pieces, I’d rather find two or three things that make my existing wardrobe feel different. Right now, a cropped suede jacket, relaxed barrel pants and an espresso brown handbag are probably at the top of my list.
Although I’ve also been looking at those suede Sambas.
And scarves.
And possibly a satin skirt.
Okay…maybe this intentional-shopping thing is still a work in progress.
My plan is to pull those bins out of the basement first, see what I’ve forgotten about and then decide what’s actually missing.
Jason will be thrilled to hear that it’s almost bin season again.
If you’re refreshing your wardrobe for fall too, hopefully some of these finds give you ideas for mixing something new with pieces you already own. You don’t need to replace everything every season. Sometimes one great jacket, pair of shoes or handbag is enough to make your old favourites exciting again.
And if you also spend an hour researching a pair of pants, don’t buy them, and then start the entire process again when they show up in your feed three days later…
At least now I know I’m not alone.
